I'm headed off to Asia — China for four days, then Japan for 2 weeks, then back to China for four more days. Lots of photography. I'm hopeful to share a few things from the trip, but a "travel blog" doesn't sound like it would be useful — nor unique.
The Experiment
Which brings me to The Experiment. I'm often asked, "How do you find things to photograph? What should I photograph next?" In essence — How do you find the picture in the chaos of life? I'm not at all sure I can explain it, but I can demonstrate it — hopefully with pictures I can share here at LensWork Daily. While I'm in China and Japan, I'll make an effort to capture a snapshot of "the scene" where I'm photographing followed by a (more or less) finished image. For example . . .
Here is a place I passed on the way to dinner during my last trip to China:
. . . and here is the image I made.
Here's another one from the Dakota Creek Shipyard. The scene . . .
My finished photograph . . .
I have no idea if this will be of interest to any of you, but might be a lot of fun for me. So, look for some "Finding the Picture" posts here at LensWork Daily while I'm away. Hopefully I'll have access to post from overseas, but once I'm behind the Great Firewall of China, I'm anticipating limited Internet access. In Japan, there shouldn't be a problem.
Let me know if you enjoy this little test! It might become a more regular feature if you find it of value.
Thumbs up!
