Hello Friends,
The art life is path that I try to walk every day of my life. Knowing and finding that path is the first great challenge.
As the publisher of LensWork, I've also tried to help other photographers find and extended their creative path. In interviewing over 500 photographers over the last 25 years, one thing I've learned that is irrefutable is that each of us must find our own way and each of us will find that our way is uniquely our own. No two paths are identical; rarely are they even similar.
In my personal work, the path has required decades for a confluence of ideas, resources, and technologies to merge. After 40 years of fumbling through an art life, I finally feel like I've found — well, I've found what I was not even fully aware that I was searching for. I've found my way to Kokoro.
Above my desk, there is a brass typographic plate I found in some junk store thirty years ago — "ART AS IMAGE AND IDEA". It's affixed above my desk where I've worked under it every day for decades. For me, it sums up perfectly the core of my artistic life and path. Without image and idea, there is no art.
Kokoro is the confluence of technologies to produce and distribute image and idea. Kokoro is a means for me to walk the path of my art life — daily and monthly.
