Barry Peril Has Died
We just learned this morning that our long-time friend and LensWork alumnus (#3, #6, #13) Barry Peril passed away last Friday. I first met Barry back in the early 1980s, taught several workshops with him, and spent many a wonderful hour enjoying his insight and hospitality. He was one of the very early supporters of LensWork and was one of the first photographers to have a portfolio published in our pages (We're All In This Together, his work from Columbia Villa, appeared in LensWork #13 in 1996). He was a big bear of a man with a generous heart and a keen photographic eye — and lots of friends. We will all miss him. You can see some of Barry's photography at www.barryperil.com.

I share your sadness. Barry and I met at an early Shore Acres Workshop in the early 80's; I'm pretty sure you too were there Brooks. Barry had a generous spirit and a wonderful often eccentric eye. While we met infrequently, I considered him a friend. A life well lived but too short.
