Hainan Interruptus
One of the great and wonderful aspects of travel is the encounter with the unexpected. Having been to China twice before however, I expected I would have no difficulty connecting back to post content to my travel blog. In Lishui and in Xiang Sha Wan I had access to Wifi everywhere. On this trip however, Wifi unavailability proved to be one of the "unexpected" aspects of my travels. I had Ethernet connections everywhere I went, but no Ethernet port on my Android tablet — it's Wifi only. So, I made the two initial posts where I had Wifi and then hit a brick wall — or should I say a cloak of invisibility.
Overall, the photography was fantastic and the experiences simply amazing. Even though I'm now back in the jetlagged comfort of Anacortes, I'm posting the original text written in China to let the story unfold as I wrote it on the road. As you'll see in this post, it was a rocky start.
