China blog has begun
I'm here in China for the week, partly to work on a book with the Lieutenant Governor of Hainan, partly to have some fun out photographing! The first images have been posted over at http://china.brooksjensenarts.com. Stop by and have a look.
The next three days are "photography days," so I'm hoping to have lots more to share. That is, assuming the 95-degrees with 100% humidity don't get me. Or the 5" tropical beetles. Or . . .
Brooks' books on photography and the creative process are available in print from Lulu.com, and as eBooks for Kindle or EPUB readers. As one of the membership benefits, these eBooks are available in their entirety to members of LensWork Online via download.

Way to "Dive Right In"...what a terrific imaging opportunity!!

Critique:
this is very lazy photography on your part -- no thought has gone into the overall design of the image or what you want to communicate; at best it is ambiguous, making the image very weak . The image does not work.
why the dominance of magenta in your image? -- it is a warm color, and yet there is emotional response from the subject, the subject seems aloof; perhaps curious at you taking her photo, so wrong color design choice.
Also the image has no mid range contrast -- it feels flat, lacks depth and falls into the category an "unconscious holiday snap" - hardly one to choose for a professional folio.
